I Won’t Dance, Don’t Ask Me….

Ellie came home from school raving once again about her love of grade one.

They spent some time with the other class dancing and having fun, introducing her to the wonderful world of zumba.

I asked her to show me a few steps and understood the appeal instantly.

She became quiet as she explained, “Mom, did you know there is a girl in my class who isn’t allowed to dance because of her last name?”

Me: Are you sure that’s why she isn’t allowed to dance?

Ellie: Yeah, I’m sure Mom. She said her parents said she’s not allowed to dance because of their last name.

ME: Oh, dear, do you know what her last name is?

Ellie: She said it but I can’t remember.

Me: Was it Mormon?

Ellie: No.

Me: Was it Church of Christ?

Ellie: No, but something like that.

Me: Was it Christian?

Ellie: Yes! It’s Christian! I’m just relieved my last name is Schlotzhauer.

Me too honey.
