Tears Over Rompers….

I overheard someone whimpering in their bed last night.

I debated whether I should put down my bowl of ice cream and check things out or hum the mantra “you’ve waited all day for this” repeatedly until the sound of the bedroom sighs faded into the distance.

I took a giant scoop, careful to load the spoon with at least one caramel chunk and then I made my way down the hall.

Ellie was upset because Hanna had told her when she moves away to University, she was going to take Rompers (a stuffed dog) with her. In fact, she was going to take both original Rompers and the back-up Rompers we bought two years later on Ebay when we realized Rompers was her go-to toy and our number one negotiating chip. (This before the existence of ipods)

I consoled Ellie. We talked about the number of Rompers vs. the number of daughters and how everyone would leave with a sentimental parting gift.

Here’s what I took away from our sweet, bedtime exchange.

Hanna wants to go to University! Yippeee!!!!!
