Bouncing Into My Forties….

Maybe it’s that I’m about to turn forty but my kids have been throwing it in my face lately—a lot.

In their own encouraging way, they are eager to get me to try new things or even some old ones to show them, myself and the rest of the world that they have a cool Mom.

Last week I allowed myself to be dunked in a tank of ice water, I jumped from a cliff into a dirty, brown lake and yesterday, I agreed to bounce on a trampoline while wearing a harness meant for an American Girl doll.

I realize this blog is meant for me to write about what’s happening in our lives but this one just seemed to have one of those “A picture says a thousand words” kind of vibes.

Here I am in the first picture, sunglasses on (my first infraction) and ready to show the kids I will happily bounce up to 25 feet while they take my picture and nod at each other about how cool their almost forty year old Mom is.

Next I am in the air on the first bounce. This isn’t so bad.

Oh wait, something doesn’t feel quite right.

Uh-huh, yep, definitely something happening. Does that sign with the rules say anything about how many kegels you have to do every day in order to get on this thing? Does that fall under that “Jumpers must be in excellent physical condition” because technically, they didn’t say anything about a person’s bowels falling out of their rectum.

I call this last one, acceptance. I cropped out the tears but you can see my eyes are glistening and I’m putting on a brave-almost-40-year-old-Mom face.

There are actually other pictures–lots of them. My kids know when a moment is happening right in front of them and they take full advantage of the opportunity. Also, if anyone knows the gentleman giggling behind me, I would like to speak to him–privately.
