Drugs & Alcohol….

Hanna’s grade seven health class assignment was to research a drug and answer a few situational questions that might one day in the very distant future, or let’s say, never, for the purpose of this post, apply.

LSD was the drug she was either assigned or instantly gravitated towards but again, let’s assume she was tricked into having to research it and would most certainly not enjoy any part of the learning process.

The first question went something like this:

Your parents are at a soccer game with your younger sister/brother and you have been invited to a party with friends.

When you arrive at the party, there are drugs and alcohol available and the friend who drove you starts drinking and getting high.

What would you do?

Would you call your parents for a ride home or let your intoxicated (this is implied) friend drive you home?

What are the pros and cons to either scenario…etc etc.

We have talked to our kids about being in uncomfortable situations and how they can always call for a ride.

Expecting Hanna to say what every parent wants to hear she said, “Since when would you guys ever be at a soccer game?”
