Kung Fu Panda….

My kids are hands down the best movie watching audience of all time.
That or they have absolutely no short term memories and should be hospitalized for the way they act as though they are watching a movie they‘ve seen seventeen times for the very first time. In last night’s case, Kung Fu Panda.

They fall on the ground laughing at scenes and lines they have heard dozens of times, in many cases, acting out the very scene they’ve paused so they can repeat the actions and dialogue as if they’ve never heard it before.

This was the exchange that had them in stitches last night.

Po: Maybe I should just quit and go back to making noodles.
Oogway: Quit, don’t quit? Noodles, don’t noodles? You are too concerned about what was and what will be. There is a saying: yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the “present.”

First they pause the movie to laugh until they’ve emptied at least one box of tissue. Then, they rewind the scene to watch it again. Laughing continues, just not as intense as the first round. Pausing a second time to repeat the lines, taking turns and then fighting over whose turn it is to throw out the “noodles, don’t noodles?” bit before collapsing from more laughter. Rewind, pause and race to anyone in the house who wasn’t in the room during the first run so they can tap them on the shoulder and say, “guess what just happened?” The person turns giving the well-go-ahead-I’m-listening look before one of the kids shouts, “Noodles, don’t noodles!” Followed by a high five between the two actresses and back to the movie once fully composed.
I actually thought it was quite comical watching how much joy a movie they’ve seen many times could still bring until I heard the baby from her crib, “Noodles Mommy? Chloe noodles Mommy? Mommy don’t noodles?” MOMMY!
