Rocket?….

I asked Hanna (8 going on super cool) if she would like to choose some material for her Grandmother to sew her a dress. Reading that back I realize I too might think a homemade dress from your Grandma might be a little young for her current worldly, sophisticated, cutting-edge, hop-scotchin’ style but these dresses are pretty cute and I thought she might want to join in the fun.

Hanna: Well, um. Not to hurt your feelings Mom but I just really want to rock it.

Me: You want a rocket?

Hanna: No, I want to Rock IT!

Me: Oh. Of course you do honey. Of course you do.

Hanna: Do you know what I mean by rock it?

Me: Absolutely. I’m rockin’ it old school right now. Rock out.

Hanna: No, like you know rockin’ it? Like when someone wears cool clothes like I just don’t want to be sweet, I want to rock it too.

Me: Indeed. I get it now (?$#!)

Hanna: Like you know the shirts that come to your elbow and then they come to your waist and they’re really rockin’?

Kid number two enters: Something’s bothering me. I think it’s the shirt underwards my dress.

Underwards?

It won’t be long before I don’t understand a word they say.
