A Good News Kind Of Day….

There are days when we let the cool weather, overwhelming schedules, lack of unique skinless, boneless chicken breast recipes get the better of us.
Yesterday wasn’t one of those days.

I started on my way to my swimming class thinking about how my ten year old really impressed me by acting responsibly over the weekend. Then I turned my van around to return home and collect the swimming bag I had forgotten.

I made it to the pool and we worked on starts and sprints. I was mostly second last or dead last for each of the ten races. In other words, I finished TEN races. Celebration!

When I asked my three year old how her day at school was, she told me a girl told her she didn’t want to play with her, then she pushed Chloe to the ground where she hit her head. There is no end to that kid’s creativity!

She handed me a piece of art she made at school and when I asked her to explain her creative process she told me she drew, “A dog barfing.” What a ham!

Ellie only cried three times trying to tackle the “Starburst” pattern on the Rainbow Loom. She didn’t yell at me that I’m a bad mother for ever introducing her to it or scream at the girl on the youtube video for working in high speed. Just a series of fast and steady tears. Progress.

She also invented a new word while reading me her home reading book. For years I’ve been pronouncing it “breakfast” but Ellie assures me it’s actually “breakdist” when said fast and “breakfast” only when said slowly.

Best of all, Hanna told me one of her friends asked her if she wanted to be friends. This may seem strange to some but thinking you are already friends with someone who then asks if you want to be friends? That just makes good sense–it’s called ‘sealing the deal.’
