Castle Liar….

My four year old brought home the picture above claiming she is the artist.

Before I showed anyone the picture in question, I was told, “Well, the kids were drawing castles at school so it is possible.”

Here’s what I know for sure. 1) My daughter knows how to draw ovals, 2) My daughter knows how to draw rainbows, 3) My daughter can sometimes write her first name with a mixture of upper and lower case letters, 4) My daughter does like castles, 5) My four year old did not draw this picture.

Is it fun to want to believe she did? You betcha. Do I like calling my child a liar?

Nope.

I asked her again, “Wow Chloe, this picture is beautiful and you really drew this?”

She continues to hug this lie and I have no idea why I can’t let it go.

“So you drew these little windows, flags and shrubbery out front?”

“Yep.”

“It’s so symmetrical, the way the towers flank the centre turret.”

“I know that.”

This is not the work of my four year old.

This is the work of a fourth year Architecture student and this is a rendering of the castle from the movie Frozen.

I know, Let it Go…..Let it Go…..
