Someone in Ellie’s class recommended she start reading the Nancy Drew book series.

 
We’ve been reading a chapter each night, alternating pages until Ellie gets too tired and then I read the rest while she talks over my voice and tries to tell me who she thinks is responsible for ruining Syd and Vic’s wedding even though it’s so obviously the girl that went outside during the shower for no reason and the only person to have found this incriminating was of course, Nancy Drew.

 
The other night, I needed Greg to take over so I could deal with some sort of toothpaste glob in the sink crisis.

 
After about 20 minutes of Ellie explaining the background to Greg and 20 minutes of me first accusing and then hovering as the two guilty parties hosed down the sink, I could tell Greg was becoming agitated at the influx of useless details and wanted to get to the reading portion of this exercise.

 
I waited for Ellie to finish one last description of someone’s fancy hat and then heard Greg, “If I can’t figure out who is responsible for breaking up this wedding before Nancy Drew, I will literally drive to my old University and hand them back my diploma.”
