Recharging Her Battery….

The kids got into the car after school yesterday and we headed to swimming. There was some light conversation, a lot of snacking, several suggestions from all rows of seating as to how I could better control what the DJ’s were playing on the radio and maybe get a sicker beat going to pump everyone up before practice. (Is it ‘sicker’ beat or ‘more sickly’?)

And then, thirty miniature people burst forth from inside the dirt-covered mini-van doors, dove into the trunk to find their supplies in the mountain of bags, both mesh and duffle and then, there were two.

Chloe usually waits fourteen seconds before cutting herself off mid-conversation and falling into a deep sleep before I can park the van.

This is usually our time to have some one-on-one time even if it is just for a few quick seconds.

She mumbled something about treats, “Can I have a treat?” “When can I have a treat?” “Did you pack me any treats?” followed by a big yawn.

I asked her if she was feeling tired after a long day of school and she replied, “Mommy, I’m five. I have like fifty per cent battery power right now.”

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
