Shower Time….

The kids have settled into a back-to-school grooming routine that seems to work for the bathroom schedule.

Chloe bathes at night, Hanna and Ellie shower in the morning, Greg and I wash when the dehumidifier bucket fills with enough water to sit on the lawn and wipe where necessary.

But like any new routine, there are going to be some hiccups.

Last night for example, we heard Ellie yelling from the bathroom and went running to help.

By running, I mean we did seven rounds of rock, paper, scissors and Greg “won” so he got to check on our child.

She was shouting at someone to bring her a towel.

We weren’t sure why she would need a towel at 10pm but I was thankful she wasn’t yelling because there was a rodent-of-unusual-size (Princess Bride) in her room that she wanted to blindfold with the towel so she could make her escape.

Of course, this had to have been the day that I removed all of the bathroom towels to launder them and hadn’t returned them because that seemed more like a Friday activity.

Ellie was standing in the shower at 10pm wondering why we didn’t wake her up for school. She was sure it was daytime having only been asleep in her bed for about an hour and a half.

We’ve all done this. The 3am semi-conscious shower and I could never explain why. The clock clearly says 3am and yet we don’t trust it and we don’t trust ourselves enough to find someone to get a second opinion so we default to hopping in the shower hoping the hot water will bring us some answers.

Ellie was clean for her second round of sleep and did not need to shower this morning.

Just don’t ask her what time of day it is.
