What’s Happening To The Children?…

Greg drove through a neighbourhood the other night that made him worry.

There were children, outside, after dinner and they appeared to be running.

He wasn’t sure if they were running from each other or some very real threat like having to get to a scheduled activity or a mandatory snack break.

He noticed a couple of the kids laughing and they weren’t even hovering around a screen playing a youtube video of people falling.

He wondered why a couple of the kids had red, rosy cheeks. Were they sick? Or had they been outside for longer than it took to walk from their vehicle into the house to remove their electronic devices from the charger to start gaming?

It was a modern neighbourhood engaging in things we used to as kids. The kind where kids knock on your door after dinner and not because they want to sell you chocolate bars or raffle tickets (though I suspect they do that too) but because there’s comfort in numbers and hide & seek by the dozens is one of the best things I can remember about being a kid.

When Greg came home to tell our family about this potentially fictitious place and how our kids really should look into it, they agreed they would consider it.

After their snacks and once their devices were charged, they would look out the windows.
