The Day After….

Having a big day out is very often followed by a big day in.

Our family as a whole typically comes down with a group sick day after any type of all day event or amusement park trip and yesterday was no exception.

Hanna woke up with a headache and low grade fever. I can easily assign the headache to the three, consecutive rides on the Sky Screamer, probably a combination of stress, stomach flutters and poorly wiped up vomit from previous riders. Her nauseous mother chanting in her ear things like, “Please let me live” while forced to accompany her on a spinny ride. Perhaps the capful of water she was forced to drink saved her from being totally dehydrated and instead just partially and I suspect the scabs on her hands from me digging my fingernails into her knuckles trying to keep her within the confines of the poorly designed (for lack of a better word) bucket, will ultimately heal. But I’m fairly certain the scars will last a lifetime.

Ellie appears to have weights attached to her ankles. She’s leaning in the direction she wants to walk, with each step forward dragging her feet as though she’s sleep walking. I encouraged her to point to her destination to let others know where she’d like to end up, a page from the crosswalk instructions in large centres which will aid those around her to move out of the way and/or help her along with a gentle nudge.

Chloe is delirious, catching up from missing her afternoon nap and after eating a greasy burger, salty fries and a beer I looked at myself in the mirror, “Hello cold sore. I’ve been expecting you.”

Greg as always spent the day online looking for more comfortable running shoes.
