Energy….

One of the nice things about living in a city (that is not the one you grew up in) is constantly meeting new people.

Having school-age kids, coupled with all of their activities, we have met tons of new, some of them awesome, people over the past few years.

I love meeting new people—especially parents. I love hearing that their two year old daughter is also talking back, saying things like, “Look at me when I’m talking to you,” or their eight year old is struggling with telling time, still defaulting to “eleventy-fifty?” when asked what time it is. It brings a sense of normalcy to know we’re all going through this together.

The other night, I was chatting with a mother of three at one of my kid’s lessons and I made a comment about how kids can still keep up such high energy levels despite having a long day at school with loads of physical activity.

The response from my new friend was a surprise.

BFF: Yeah, for parents, we have all of our energy when we hop into bed at night. Ha!

But not all friendships are meant to last more than thirty minutes.
