Being Six….

Apparently being six isn’t always easy.

There are things my daughter thinks would enhance her life in ways she never imagined possible–things that if she goes on without, she will be left feeling empty and unfulfilled.

Ellie: Mommy, stop what you’re doing.

So, I put down the laundry, unplugged the griddle, turned two burners to low and one to medium, set down my crinkly cutter and the crinkled cucumbers next to it, pulled the hairbrush from my head, the shaving cream from my legs, the knitting needle from between my index finger and thumb, nail polish from my left hand, children’s watch battery from my pinky, pottery wheel from my nose.

Me: I’m all ears honey.

Ellie: My life is terrible. I need two things.

Deep breath, please don’t say ipod touch, dog or boyfriend and pretty please don’t say all three indicating she can’t count to two.

Me: What are the two things?

Ellie: Wizard powers and bangs.

Well one of those is definitely doable. I just need to find a wand.
