Yesterday morning, I drove through Tim Hortons and ordered my medium steeped tea with two milk while Chloe tried to shout over my voice to be heard by the robots inside the intercom, “And A CHOCOLATE TIM BIT!!”

When I arrived at the window with the correct change for my tea (sorry Chloe, no tim-bits before noon on Tuesdays in February of odd years) the robot-turned-real-life- girl said, “Here’s your tea, no charge.”

Me: ?

She explained that someone had come in earlier and pre-paid for a Tim’s card and told the staff to run it down until the balance was zero so a few people could have a nice surprise start to their day.

I asked if I could pay it forward and buy for the car behind me but was once again, this time in a slower, more condescending voice told about the pre-paid card and that there was still a balance that would take care of the car behind me.

There really are some thoughtful, selfless people in this world.

I’m kicking myself for not ordering a muffin too.
