Comb….

I was reading an amazing piece of classic literature with Chloe.

It’s called “Words” and there are four words with a picture on every page, hence the clever title with an amazing hook.

On the third page, there was a picture of a comb which Chloe sounded out, “b-r-u-s-h….brush!”

We looked at the letters and sounded out each one.

It was tough to explain the unnecessary “b” at the end and don’t be surprised if Chloe starts adding an unnecessary “b” to everythingb fromb nowb onb.

I explained that some words have silent letters at the end that don’t make a lot of sense but I couldn’t explain the reason and I’d only had one cup of teab and I hadn’t even combed my hairb yetb so I couldn’t even demonstrate.

Chloe said, “I know why there’s a b at the end.” (Here it comes—bitch and I won’t be able to get mad because this is the circle of learning where there are no bad questions.

“I know why there’s a b at the end. Because b is one of the funnest letters to draw so they probably just did that.”

Acceptable.

“Oh, too (I know you’re thinking this should be the number ‘two’ but trust me, she’s four and she’s using it as ‘also’) it’s because what do you do with a comb? You brush with it. Brush starts with b, simple.”

“Oh, too, I have to go to the bathroom. Too, I need you to wipe my bumb.”
