Minecraft?…

I had the following confusing conversation with my eight year old.

Apparently we were talking about the game Minecraft though one of us wasn’t aware of this until the conversation was long over.

“Mom, what can I build that’s got a hole and water inside?”

“Great question Ellie.” (Not really but it was something different) “Why don’t you build a wishing well? That has a hole and water inside.” (pats self on back for coming up with something almost instantly)

“No, it can’t be round. It has to be just one square.”

“What do you mean, ‘just one square’?”

“Like it can only be one square.”

“No, I heard you. I just have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“I need it to be one square, you know, with water inside?!”

“Right.”

“So people won’t suspect.”

“Right, suspect.”

“Mom! What can I make?”

“Well can you make a wishing well that’s square? What about a square swimming pool? There are serving dishes that are square.”

Ellie is ready to explode.

“No! It has to be square and with water so no one will suspect.”

“Who are we afraid of?”

“Someone in a hotel who can get on the WiFi. Actually, anywhere with shared WiFi.”
“I see.” (No I don’t)

“If I build something with water in it, people won’t suspect and they won’t be able to get into my house. They’ll just walk past.”

As I am about to do.
