Totally Rad Granny….

The kids decided to make their Grandma (my Mom) some birthday cards with no threats to lose evening tv or coercion on my part.

Ellie wrote a sweet poem about ‘May all of your wishes coming true’, ‘being special because you are you’ etc.

Hanna plagiarized Ellie’s note and used the “May all your wishes come true” line in larger, bolder print just to mess with her younger sister but stay under my radar because really, how do you punish someone for writing “May all your wishes come true” to their Grandma?

She may be an evil genius.

Then Chloe who I am so incredibly proud of at 4 years old, wrote her name unassisted C-H-L-O-E which took her about a minute per pain-staking letter, interrupted by, “Does that one have a hook or a twist or anything?”

Then she said she wanted to write “May all your wishes come true” because this particular phrase was stirring up a lot of passion and heated debate in the room but dinner was almost ready and there are simply not enough hours in the day for that kind of commitment.

She agreed to write “Happy Birthday Grandma” instead and we worked together letter by letter until I had to stir something on the stove so I asked Hanna to take over.

I had helped with “Happy” and “Birthday” which took up 90% of the space on the card and when I returned expecting to see “Grandma” under Hanna’s watchful eye, instead I saw the word (in beautiful penmanship) “Radical.”

I’m not even going to begin to try to make sense of “Happy Birthday Radical” other than my 10 year old thought this was extremely hilarious and thankfully, Chloe assumed she had written “Birthday” and was rather proud to show off the card to anyone who would look at it.

Greg picked it up and said, “Happy Birthday Radical?” which made Hanna spit-laugh and Chloe ask what he was talking about.

Apparently Chloe didn’t want to write “Radical” (shocking) but did want to write “Balloon.”
I’m not sure “Happy Birthday Balloon” makes much more sense but it is more in keeping with the theme.

She cut out a giant green heart and pasted it over the radical part of the card.

Totally rad Granny will be none the wiser.
