It’s Not You Aveeno, It’s Me….

For the past four days, I’ve been experimenting with a new container of Aveeno, daily moisturizing cream.

Aveeno has always been a go-to product when I need something quick and easy as I like the absence of any strong odours and the oatmeal kicker really tugs at my heartstrings.

I see you’ve changed the packaging or maybe, this one is smaller than my last container as it doesn’t have that handy pump at the top.

Aside from the packaging, the other pretty significant difference is when you first put the cream on your hands to rub it onto your legs, it’s a completely different consistency than my last bottle. This time, they’ve lightened up the creamy texture. It’s almost watered down and gel-like. Oh well, if it’s good enough for Jenny Aniston, who am I to argue?

I started rubbing my legs with the cream and noticed it was leaving a white film on my skin. Another noticeable difference from my last moisturizer but maybe this was the oatmeal part really getting to work on something awesome.

Then I realized when I rubbed against the grain (think into the longer leg hairs) the cream remained a solid white but when I forced the hair down in the other direction, it was clear. Huh.

My legs felt a little sticky and by the third day, I was still trying to figure out why several hours after my shower, my legs looked like they had sunscreen (heavy on the zinc) on every inch of exposed skin.

Still, I gave my new cream the benefit of the doubt and figured the sticky film was just Aveeno’s way of trumping the other moisturizers and maybe the magic was going to be part of a bigger, week-long process.

Then Hanna walked into my bathroom and said, “Can I put this shower gel on your counter in the shower so I can use it?”

Um, yep.
